Vintage Pinup/Rockabilly Hairstyling Demonstration!!

10 Aug

Lately I’ve been working on several things I’ve been dying to announce! This is just the first of many things to be announced in the coming weeks so stay tuned!

Anyone who knows me knows just how often I do my hair in a vintage 40s or 50s style or a modernized version of one, on a daily basis. Just about the only time I’ll ever be seen without my hair done is when I’m sick, my man is or my little one is. Pinup is all about being polished and well, without well done hair, it just doesn’t have the same head turning effect. Among the many questions I get asked regularly about my hair there are: “Where did you learn to do your hair like that?” “Is that really your hair or is it a wig?” “How long did that take you this morning? It looks like it took forever!” and the one I get asked the most is… “How do you do your hair like that?!” The answers to those questions are: I taught myself, yes that’s really my hair – I hate the way wigs feel, not as long as you’d think – victory rolls take me about 10 minutes on a good day or 25 on a bad day, and the last answer is… PRACTICE! I’ve had so many people express interest in learning to do their hair in vintage pinup/rockabilly styles that I have decided to start doing hair demonstrations!

The first one will be during the First Friday Art Walk next month at Lowbrow Gallery and Tattoo Studio. It’s free, it starts at 7pm and all are welcome! Below is the flyer as well as my “official” description (with more information) for the hair demonstrations!
If you have a Facebook, please RSVP here: http://www.facebook.com/browse/event.php?eid=258194184193616 so I have a rough estimate of how many girls will be there so I can plan accordingly!

Do you love the classic, elaborate looking hairstyles of the 1940s and 1950s? Do you wish you could fix your hair to look like the pinup and Hollywood beauties of the atomic age? Then this FREE hairstyling demonstration is for you! I will be showing the basics you need to know to recreate vintage hairstyles and make them your own! Short hair or long hair, thick hair or fine, I have tips, tricks and ideas for you!

Do you already have some basic skills but want to polish them? Then this demonstration is for you too!! It just might make your hair routine a bit quicker and a little less frustrating!

There will be a Q&A session after the hair demonstration so make sure to bring your questions! Whether they are about vintage hair, retro makeup, clothing and style from that era or anything pinup, I’ll be happy to answer them!

You are welcome to take pictures and note taking is encouraged.

There will be complimentary snacks and drinks for all those who attend.

The demonstration will start at 7pm during the First Friday Art Walk on September 2nd at Lowbrow Gallery and Tattoo Studio. They are located at 111 D S San Fransisco St, below the Mad Italian, just look for the color orange and go down the stairs!

***BONUS*** For those of you who don’t know, I make hair accessories, jewelry and other things. I will be giving away some hair accessories and jewelry to a few lucky, randomly selected (drawn from a hat) ladies that attend! The best part? If you win something, YOU get to choose the item you take home!

Oh, and one last thing! This is just the first of many demonstrations I will be doing! If there is anything specific you’d like to learn to do, let me know and I will happily include it in one of my demos! I’m also available for hands-on classes either for just you or you and a couple of friends.

I really hope to see you there! ♥

There will be lots of bad ass art on display and I will be selling my bows, flowers and jewelry so come say hi!!

After the Art Walk, join me at the Orpheum for The Reverend Horton Heat show! This will be my first time seeing The Rev live and I am so incredibly excited!

Last but not least, I will be in the 4th of July parade on Monday alongside several other local pin ups! We will be promoting Rockabilly Royale by handing out fliers and other goodies. Rockabilly Royale is on Saturday, July 30th located at Cinnabar (The Joint) in Flagstaff, Arizona. Voodoo Swing, Rooster Coupe DeVille, El Camino Royales, The Toomstoners and Shit Outta Luck are all playing! On top of the bands, there will be vendors, photographers (come get your photo taken!!), hot rods and a pin up contest! I will be vending at this event as well as participating in the pin up contest! Come on out, listen to some great music, do some shopping, have some $2 PBRs and support me in the contest! By the way, I am happy to take photos with fans so don’t be shy if you run into me!! ❤
